Sharing Your Project
We need to teach sharing early. --MF, 12/28/21
Sharing on New Page? From PD: "The info I received from Dan on this process yesterday was very complete and should be added to Unit 1 Lab 2 Activity 2, step 10 especially when the title turns bold. "
In this activity, you'll you will share your project so others can play with your super short study builder.
-
Share your project with someone else. You can use either option below if you have a Snap! account. If you do not have a Snap! account, you need to use Option A.
Option A: Share your project as a file
Send an XML file.
- You've already learned how to save an XML file by saving to your computer instead of the cloud. You can also go to File menu (
) and select "Export project..." to generate an XML file.
- You can send this XML file to others. To open the file, they can go to Snap! and drag in the XML file. They can also go to the File menu (
) and "Open..." the file.
- If you make changes to your project, then you have to save the project again and send the new file for others to see your updates.
Option B: Share your project as a link
"Sharing" your project will create a link that will let others see the most recently saved version of your project.
Creating a Link
- Make sure your project is saved.
- Choose "Open..." from the Snap! File menu (
).
- Select this project from the list (your current project is likely named "BJC Sparks - Super Short Stories").
- Press "Share."
- Click "Cancel" to close the box (since you aren't actually trying to open a project.
- Then copy the URL (web address) out of the location bar of your browser window. Send this link to your friends, family, and/or teacher.
If you save a change to your project after sharing it, the changes will be visible at the URL you have already shared. (The other person may need to refresh their screen.) You don't have to re-share it.
In this activity, you'll edit the structure of the story itself to make it your own story.
