Adding Sprite Costumes

In this activity, you'll a costume to your sprite.

Revisiting Your Plan

  1. Talk with Your Partner Revisit your plan for the sprites and costumes for your interactive project.
    Remember, sprites are characters or objects that can move around and do things.
    • How many sprites will you have?
    • What kinds of costumes will they have?
    • Will the sprites ever change costumes?

Adding a Costume

  1. Add a costume for your first sprite. (You can add more sprites later.)
    example sprite costume: cartoon of a person walking; they have brown skin and dark brown hair held back with a headband; in Snap!, this costume is called 'avery walking a' example sprite costume: cartoon of a soccer ball; in Snap!, this costume is called 'ball soccer' example sprite costume: cartoon of a person standing with one hand held out; they have light skin and short reddish hair; in Snap!, this costume is called 'dee a' example sprite costume: cartoon of a dragon breathing fire; in Snap!, this costume is called 'dragon1 b'
    You add a costume almost the same way you add a stage background! The only differences are in bold below.

    1. In the lower right corner of the Snap! window, select the Sprite icon (shown right).
    2. Choose "Costumes..." from the File (File menu button) menu.
    3. Choose a costume.
    4. Click "Import."
    5. Click "Cancel" to close the dialog box.
  2. Set the size, position, and orientation of your sprite.

    • You can change the size of your sprite using set size to ( ) %.
    • You can change the position of your sprite using go to x: () y: ().
    • You can change the direction that your sprite is facing:
      point in direction (270) with menu open showing right left, up, down, random
In this activity, you added a sprite costume and set its size, position, and direction.
